In an interesting update the ‘Mahishmati Kingdom’ franchise’s filmmaker KE Gnanavel Raja, confirmed that the third installment, ‘Baahubali 3‘ will be made.
According to a Desimartini report, KE Gnanavel Raja said that currently the film is being planned and the team discussed the ideas recently. As they released the film back to back within two years, now they are planning the third instalment after a gap.He further explained that filmmakers are taking their time to ensure that audiences can connect with the characters before experiencing sequels. He said that the sequel to ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘, will be released after two more films and similarly, Salaar 1 and Salaar 2 will have a gap between them. He mentioned that this approach is similar to the successful strategy seen in franchises like Suriya’s ‘Singam’ series.
Previously, there had been doubts about the possibility of a third part. In 2017, screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad and lead actor Prabhas had both indicated that the story of Baahubali had concluded, with plans for the franchise to continue through comic and TV series instead. However, Gnanavel Raja’s recent announcement has rekindled hope among fans eager to see Prabhas return as the iconic character in the Mahishmati empire.
