England reach Euros final as Ollie Watkins becomes national hero with stunning last-gasp goal

Ollie Watkins’ stunning stoppage-time strike has seen England reach the final of Euro 2024 with a late win over the Netherlands.

The Aston Villa man pulled off at outrageous finish just minutes after coming on as a substitute to make it 2-1 in the 90th minute of the game.

England went behind early on after an outrageous hit from Xavi Simons, who took advantage of Declan Rice fumbling the ball.

But Harry Kane soon equalised after England won a controversial penalty, with the Three Lions captain finding the back of the net.

The Netherlands threatened in the second half as they grew back into the game.

However, Aston Villa striker Watkins rose to become the hero.

Fellow substitute Cole Palmer delivered a perfect through ball Watkins, who turned quickly and fired into the bottom corner to send the England fans in Dortmund and at home into raptures.

He is now the first substitute to score a 90th-minute winning goal in a European Championship knockout tie.

Watkins’ fourth ever international goal at the death was enough to earn him to Player of The Match of award.

That’s despite him only having four touches of the ball.

England are now in the Euros final for a consecutive tournament.

However this time, the Three Lions will be dreaming of going one step further and lifting the European Championship trophy for the first time.
