After an excruciating wait, Adult Swim‘s highly anticipated adaptation of Junji Ito’s acclaimed manga series Uzumaki has finally revealed a release date along with a brand-new trailer. First announced back in 2019, Uzumaki‘s anime adaptation has faced delay after delay, but fortunately, the wait is finally over as the series is at last ready to release this Summer.

According to a post on X by MangaMoguraRE, Uzumaki will finally be released on Saturday, September 28, 2024, and will consist of 4 episodes. The announcement was accompanied by a chilling new trailer posted to Adult Swim’s official X handle and YouTube channel, the description of which reveals each episode will be released on Max the following day with the English dub releasing the following Thurday.


While Uzumaki already seemed like Junji Ito’s most promising anime yet, the new trailer reveals just how much effort has gone into bringing Ito’s beautifully drawn manga to life with incredible attention to detail, proving that the series may have been worth the long wait after all.

Of all of Junji Ito’s works, Uzumaki is unanimously agreed to be his best, most popular work and as such, the announcement that the series would be animated has kept fans on the edge of their seats since 2019. Unfortunately, the anime adaptation was met with countless setbacks, the biggest being the COVID-19 pandemic which hindered the production of Uzumaki. Fortunately, the series is finally here and the new trailer confirms the series still looks just as promising as ever, arguably even better than fans could have imagined.
