The trailer confirmed a handful of iconic characters from the beloved children’s books. This includes the Supa Buddies, made up of Li’l Petey as the Cat Kid, 80-HD as the Lightning Dude, and of course, the titular Dog Man himself in his Supa Buddy form, The Bark Knight. Characters will traverse obstacles differently depending on which special skills and abilities are needed, and will use Supa Gadgets ranging from grappling hooks to fancy pants to boots that let players double jump. The gameplay will center around the concept of teamwork, and players will need to use the characters’ abilities and gadgets in clever ways.

Each of the three characters has a few confirmed abilities. Li’l Petey might seem like your average nimble and sassy cat, but he also has the ability to hack gadgets and fit into very small places. Use 80-HD to push heavy objects or jump across long distances, or equip him with the grappling hook gadget to swing from one platform to the next. And then there is Dog Man, whose supa powers include digging deep and fast underground and gliding through the air to cross to faraway platforms.

There is also the shadowy figure lurking around the trailer in the background who happens to be holding a key. Most likely, that is going to be the main antagonist in Dog Man: Mission Impawsible, considering the central plot involves chasing down the supa villain who stole the key to the city. Based on the shape of the silhouette, is it possible this could be the sneaky and mischievous Piggy, the main evil-doer from the children’s books? Fans will have to wait until the game finally launches in December to know for sure.

Other familiar enemies from the books are there as well, such as the elusive robot cheesesteak sandwich, Supa-Mecha Philly, who appeared in the fourth book in the series, Dog Man and Cat Kid. There will also be eight locations specifically pulled from the iconic Dog Man universe, such as City Hall and the Giant Marshmallow Factory. Overall, this silly and authentically designed puzzle-platformer looks like a promising adaptation of a beloved children’s literary series that families will truly enjoy playing together.
