Peter Schmeichel reveals advice to son Kasper as video mocking Celtic goes viral

Peter Schmeichel had important words of advice for son Kasper after he let in seven goals during Celtic’s 7-1 mauling at Borussia Dortmund.

It was a bad day at the office for the Scottish Premiership champions as they were humiliated at the Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund hit five in the first half alone and it was crisis management for Brendan Rodgers’ side from there on out.

It was tough viewing for ex-Manchester United star Peter Schmeichel, who was at the game in Germany.

He managed to get a quick word with Kasper just after the game and told CBS what they said.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said: “We both had a chat a couple of months ago about being fathers of sons who play professionally. It must have been a tough night for you, how is it when you are watching a game involving your son and it is going wrong very early on?”

Schmeichel replied: “It really is difficult. You always want the best for your children, it doesn’t matter what situation they find themselves in.

“Of course, today was one of those days you can never, ever explain. There were so many shots on goal, seven of them went in. It could have been more.

“It was as Callum McGregor said to me earlier on, it was just one of those days where they couldn’t get close enough to close them down.

“I spoke to Kasper as he came out after the game, the dressing room is right here, so I spoke to him and said ‘it was a bad, bad day at the office. Nothing more. Take it, move on, and be one of the leaders in the dressing room. Help everyone recover from this’.

“Up until this point, don’t forget, Celtic have played really good football and there is optimism at the club. They need to go through what happened, but this is just a really bad day at the office.”

It was a brutal reality check for Celtic, who had won their previous 17 matches, including a 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their opening Champions League contest.

There were in the firing line of Sports Bar host Jason Cundy, who delivered an all-time classic ‘has anyone seen’ (above).

Alan Brazil, Shebhan Aherne, Sir Rod Stewart, and Gerard Butler were all mentioned in a brutal opening section.

Cundy went on to say: “I’m bored. Every single Champions League campaign around this time Celtic get it in the neck, mate. They’re embarrassing Scottish and British football.

“Win the league, celebrate, get pumped… win the league, celebrate, get pumped… win the league, celebrate, get pumped.”

Celtic will likely bounce back when they face Ross County on Sunday, who are seventh in the Scottish Premiership but only won once this season.
