Scott Parker has been appointed as manager of Burnley, the Championship club has announced.
The former Fulham and Bournemouth manager replaces Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor with the Belgian going to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
Parker had been on a managerial shortlist that included Frank Lampard, Liam Rosenior and Craig Bellamy soon after Kompany left the club for Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, the club spoke to Bellamy, who had been in interim charge as Kompany’s assistant, Burnley have made their decision on who will be the successor.
Former England international Parker said: “I’m really pleased to be here. I have been speaking with Burnley for some time now which has been a positive thing as I’ve now got a real feel for the people around the club.
“To be around the training ground now you start to get that feeling again and I can’t wait to get on the training field and start work.
“For us to be successful this year is the most important thing. We have to win and build a team the fans and club can be proud of. This team can represent every single one of them in that aspect and that’s the aim.”

The former Tottenham, West Ham and Fulham midfielder turned to management in 2019 after becoming head coach of the Cottagers following his retirement in 2017.
He earned promotion from the Championship in his first season in charge, taking Fulham up through the play-offs.
However, Parker has not coached since leaving Belgian side Club Brugge in March 2023 where he oversaw just two wins in 12 matches before he was axed.
His second year at Fulham ended miserably, too, as he could not prevent them from getting relegated from the Premier League.
But his penchant for promotion came into effect at Bournemouth, where he helped them return to the top tier in 2021/22.

The 43-year-old was not given long, though, getting the sack just four matches into the following season following comments made after a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Parker will begin his reign with the Championship opener against Luton on August 12.
