talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Friday 23 August

Leeds haven’t started the Championship season as they would have liked, but the Whites have a chance to kick start their campaign when they head to Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

Elsewhere, there is action across Europe and we have a trio of selections, which form our best bets of the day for Friday.

Bet of the day

Over 2.5 goals in Sheffield Wed v Leeds @ 3/4

Leeds are yet to win this season, and while it’s early days, the Whites can’t afford to go too much longer without collecting a victory.

Daniel Farke’s men drew 3-3 with Portsmouth on the opening day of the Championship campaign, before losing 3-0 to Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup and playing out a 0-0 second-tier draw at West Brom.

Sheffield Wednesday were hammered 4-0 at Sunderland last time out, but the Owls have beaten Plymouth 4-0 and Hull 2-1 and all of Wednesday’s three matches have bust the 2.5 goal line.

There is already a little bit of pressure on Leeds to pick up a victory and sitting back in the hope of nicking a narrow victory isn’t going to cut it with the Elland Road faithful.

Backing three or more goals at Hillsborough looks the bet of the day on Friday.

Special of the day

PSG to score over 2.5 goals @ 5/6

Montpellier must dread the thought of Playing PSG, with the last six matches between the pair ending 6-2, 3-0, 3-1, 5-2, 4-0 and 2-0 in favour of the Parisians.

Luis Enrique’s men made a strong start to the season by beating a Le Havre side, who have caused the champions problems in the past, 4-1 at the Stade Oceane.

That looks ominous for Montpellier, who weren’t great in a 1-1 Stade de la Mosson draw with Strasbourg.

La Paillade have been on the end of a series of hidings at the hands of PSG and taking the Parisians to score over 2.5 goals on Friday night looks like a nice special play.

Long shot of the day

Valencia to beat Celta Vigo @ 5/2

Valencia were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona in their opening La Liga contest of the season, but Los Ches took the lead in that Mestalla contest and there was enough promise in the performance of Ruben Baraja’s men to suggest they can outrun odds of 5/2 at Celta.

The Sky Blues got the better of Alaves 2-1 at Balaidos last week, but Claudio Giraldez’s men were second-best in that tie and they lost the shot count 10-6 to Babazorros.

Alaves also came out on top of the expected goals figures, and perhaps Celta are being a little overrated on the back of that success.

More is likely to be needed against Valencia and there looks plenty of upside to backing Los Ches on their trip to Vigo.
