The Boys Prequel Series Receives Exciting Development Update From Aya Cash

It’s hard to be the most despicable character in The Boys, but playing a literal Nazi might just do it. Stormfront (Aya Cash) is returning for the show’s first prequel series, titled Vought Rising, along with fan favorite Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). Production is yet to begin on the highly-anticipated show, but Cash already has fans excited, teasing that Vought Rising could be peak The Boys.

Speaking to Screen Rant at the red carpet for her new HBO comedy series, The Franchise, Aya Cash was asked about her surprise return as Stormfront in Vought Rising. The actress started out by making an important public safety announcement, emphasizing that her character in the show and herself are two VERY different people. “I want to be clear. She bad. She real bad. She bad bad bad. I don’t agree with her. And I can’t fly. We are different people,” Cash said.

While she despises her character’s actions, morals, and political alignment (we’d be worried if she didn’t), Cash loved playing Stormfront in the second season of The Boys, and cannot wait to return as a younger version of the supervillain. The actress confirmed that she has read some of the scripts for Vought Rising, making clear her excitement for the upcoming spinoff. The actress continued:

“But I am so excited to go back and work with those people again.
And I’ve read some scripts, and they’re really good.

Stormfront Leads Upcoming The Boys Prequel Series

First announced during San Diego Comic-Con, Aya Cash is set to star alongside Jensen Ackles in a brand-new spin-off series, Vought Rising. Set in the 1950s, the show follows Soldier Boy and Stormfront (also known as Clara Vought) as they attempt to solve a gruesome murder during the titular company’s rise to power.

If Soldier Boy was the personification of a problematic boomer in The Boys, expect him to be much worse in Vought Rising. A flashback scene in The Boys showed Soldier Boy on the frontlines during the Vietnam War, displaying some incredibly questionable and misogynistic behavior. The new show will be set around the same time, meaning Ackles can unleash an entirely unhinged performance, without Hughie, Butcher, or any societal decency holding him back.

Vought Rising is the newest of several The Boys spin-off shows in the works. Season 2 of the beloved Gen V is currently in production, after it was briefly halted following the death of actor Chance Perdomo. Showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters wrote the actor’s passing into the show, rather than re-casting the role. Meanwhile, The Boys: Mexico from Diego Luna & Gael García Bernal is finally moving ahead. The series was originally announced in November 2023, but was then rumored to be canceled. However, the series is still in development and well on its way to the small screen.
