Farida Jalal defends Heeramandi co-star Sharmin Segal against trolling: ‘Maybe that’s her capacity, what are you expecting?’ | Hindi Movie News

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar’ was in the spotlight after his niece, Sharmin Segal, who played Alamzeb in the series, received a lot of negative reviews for her performance. The trolls were going beyond control, with several people calling her a nepo kid. Her co-star Farida Jalal recently reacted to the ongoing backlash.
In an interview with India Today, Farida said that Sharmin has done her best as an actor and stated that people should be kind. “Sharmin did her best as per her capacity. I don’t think her character needed to be very boisterous, and loud. That was not her role. What were you expecting? Perhaps, what you thought you would see her character doing, you didn’t. But that’s okay. Why should one be rude to her? She is a poet, and she falls in love with Taj and that’s it,” Farida Jalal added.

There’s positive, there’s negative, there’s a whole bunch of stuff that goes with the fact that you’re being noticed, and I’m just grateful that I’ve got this opportunity to be able to put my craft out there for people to see.”
